The Water Rats association with Encore Magazine began some ten years ago when Past King Rat Keith Simmons suggested to Editor Peter G. Foot a regular monthly column called 'Rats Tales'. Keith has written this ever since. Four years ago Peter asked if The Rats would be interested in combining with the Magazine on their yearly Awards Luncheon. This resulted in the first Water Rats Cabaret, produced by Keith. The function has gone from strength to strength with this years being attended by more people than ever before. Money raised goes to The Roy Castle Cancer Fund - and the coins collected in the raffle goes to the Grand Order of Water Rats own Charities Fund. This years artistes were Simmons & Simmons (Keith and son Ben), Andrew Robley, Tom O'Connor and King Rat Melvyn Hayes with Don Shearman tickling the ivories!
